Winter at Walt Disney World!

Hello friends!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Well, it already is in Walt Disney World! Today I’m sharing all of the things that are special about visiting Walt Disney World in Winter! This time last year I had just gotten back from my trip, and while I don’t currently have a trip planned (*sniff*), I do have lots of information to share and once again my most recent pictures are relevant again!  The holiday season is magical in the parks, and it’s definitely one of my favourite times to visit! Just like I did with Fall, let’s dive in to some of the cool things available during winter at Walt Disney World!

the decorations

Disney goes ALL OUT with he decorations, and I love it! Even the background music in Magic Kingdom changes to Christmas music. From the minute you walk in to the park, you have to appreciate the holiday spirit! The massive Christmas trees, the toy soldiers, the Mickey wreaths, and the lights on the castle are all amazing to see in person! I may or may not have teared up the first time I saw the castle lighting show! Speaking of which, make sure to not miss the castle lighting! It usually takes place around 7pm, and you probably guessed it, it takes place right on the stage in front of the castle!

the treats

Who doesn’t love a special holiday treat! You can find treats in the parks and resorts starting in November. One of my favourite touches? The red and green Disney designs on the drink cups everywhere!

mickey’s very merry Christmas party

Last year I shared 10 Tips for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, so you can check that post out here! This is a special ticketed event in Magic Kingdom that runs on select nights in November and December. With free cookies and hot chocolate, to a special parade and fireworks, it’s a really fun time! I also vlogged it on our last trip, so if you want to see more you can check out the video below!

candlelight processional

This seasonal show at Epcot is hosted by celebrities *cough*Neil Patrick Harris*cough* and tells the story of Christmas with a full choir and orchestra. I’ve never seen it in person, but it sounds like it would give me goosebumps! Dining packages are available to get you reserved seating, and you can find more information about that here.

holidays around the world

In World Showcase at Epcot you can learn about the different traditions around the world while walking from country to country! It would be interesting to hear the different holiday traditions each country has, and I hope to have the chance to see these soon!

jingle bell, jingle bam!

At Hollywood Studios, this firework and projection show is themed after the cartoon Prep & Landing, and is sure to get you in the holiday spirit! Reserved seating is available through the dessert parties, and you can find more information here.

NEW: Sunset Season’s Greetings!

Hollywood Studios is getting even more into the spirit this year! With a new projection show on Tower of Terror, and SNOW on Sunset Blvd! This is the only place for you to experience snow outside of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! There are also special holiday treats available, and from the pictures I’ve seen this looks pretty amazing! You can find more information here.

decorations at the resorts

We just started to see the decorations going up in the resorts near the end of our trip last year. We made a special trip to the Grand Floridian to see the gingerbread house being built, and it was pretty amazing to see! Another notable resort is The Boardwalk! But all of the resorts usually get a tree, and the tree is themed to the resort! It would be fun to spend some time looking at all of the decorations.

Hollywood & Vine: Minnie’s Holiday Dine

At Hollywood Studios, head to Hollywood & Vine to dine with Minnie and friends, with a decked out holiday meal! You can enjoy this holiday meal from November 7th- January 7th, and you can find more information here! I love the outifts Mickey & friends get to wear!

Thank you for joining me today as I share some of the many things to enjoy in winter at Walt Disney World! I will do a post toward the end of next month with what you can expect at Walt Disney World in January and February, as it’s a little different from the holidays!

I enjoyed our trip in November of last year for many reasons, but getting to see the decorations at my favourite place was at the top of the list! Below is one of my favourite pictures from the trip! I have my sunglasses on because I was crying because it was our last day. But I was still happy to be standing there!
