Monthly Favourites- August 2016

Hello friends! It’s monthly favourites time once again! I’m sharing some of my favourite things from the past month, ranging from entertainment, beauty, clothing and everything in between. I hope everyone has had an amazing summer and is ready for fall! Let’s jump right in!

Monthly Favourites August 2016

Entertainment

The O’Pears– If you watched my very first vlog, The O’pears were one of the many groups at Summerfolk this year. I really enjoyed their sets and purchased their cd while at Summerfolk, so I’ve listened to it a few times since. They are from Toronto so hopefully I will have the opportunity to see them in concert again!

Jonas Brothers- so after mentioning Nick Jonas in last month’s favourites, nostalgia hit me and made me want to go back and listen to the Jonas Brothers. Ethan and I were house sitting at the beginning of the month which meant a longer drive to work for me, so I had their cds in the car to keep me company. Especially after going so long since listening, it really brought me back to when I was a teenager “rocking” out to their music at the many concerts I went to. It was definitely fun!

New Girl- Seriously. If you haven’t seen this show, you need to! I’ve seen every episode now, and in August I realized I had the entire season from this year still on the PVR, so I watched all of it. This show is so great, I can’t say enough good things about it. If you want to know what I think is hilarious, this is it. I cry I laugh so hard. Every episode makes me laugh SO HARD. I love it. Hopefully I’m making it clear lol.

Clothing

I’m So Glad I left My Tower Tank– I picked up another shirt from Happily Ever Tees, and love this Tangled tank! Tangled is definitely up there as one of my favourite Disney movies, so I’m happy to have some merch! This tank is so subtle, and even has a hidden Pascal and frying pan! I can’t wait to wear it in Disney World! 😀 I could not find it anywhere, and their website does not have the new design on it… so you guys will just have to wait to see a picture of it when I find it!

I thought I would quickly mention that although I have picked up now 2 things from HET, I don’t think I will again. They only print a few of each size shirt, and they sell out in minutes. I tried 3 times to get a Carousel of Progress shirt for Ethan (which I grabbed at the same time as this tank), and the process was really stressful. For this reason, I will shop elsewhere. I obviously like their products, but don’t want my shopping experience to give me anxiety.

Beauty

Tea Tree Oil Squeaky Clean Scrub– I mentioned this scrub in my first empties post, and I am still loving it! I use it every other day in the shower, and it leaves my skin feeling nice and clean.

Miscellaneous

Polynesian Candle– this candle smells SO GOOD! I picked it up from Walter Rosie Candle Co, and absolutely love it! My sister bough a bunch of wax melts to use in her Party Lite Warmer, all Disney themed of course!

YouTube App- I thought I would mention how much I love the YouTube app. I love scrolling through my “home page” to see what it recommends for me, and I definitely like what it picks! It’s actually how I found both of the YouTubers I’m mentioning this month!

Aspyn + Parker– with three channels between them, I’ve been watching a bit of all three. I like their vlog style videos the most. I find it really cool to watch people that are really successful in the YouTube world, and especially these two who are so young!

Makeup by Tffany D– I’ve said before that I am definitely a newb when it comes to makeup, so watching her videos has definitely taught me some things! I believe I watched a Q&A from her first (of all things to watch when you have no idea who this person is), and have watched a couple other videos by her.

I hope you’ve enjoyed taking a look at some of my favourites from last month! If you’d like to hear a little more, check out the video below:

The Disney Resort Hotels I’ve Stayed At

Hello friends! I cannot believe it is September already! Where is this year going?! I thought today I would write about the different Walt Disney World Resorts I’ve stayed at, and a little summary of what I liked and didn’t like about it! As I stay at more resorts, I will continue to update this post! I’m going to go in order of my trips, so it’s a little easier for me to remember. Okay, let’s jump right in!

The Disney Resort Hotels I've Stayed At

All Star Music- I’m going to admit right away that I don’t remember much about this resort, because I was 5 when we stayed there. It was during my very first trip to Walt Disney World! I remember it being larger than life (especially when I was so small). I loved seeing Ariel near the big piano pool, and we stayed near the big cowboy boots! Because I was so small and only remember a bit about this resort I asked my parents what they thought of it. They said that the price was right, but it was FAR from Magic Kingdom, and we were in a building that wasn’t close to the lobby, which at the end of the day pushing a stroller and a wheelchair wasn’t too fun. I think that about sums up my thoughts on any of the All Star Resorts (Music, Movies or Sports). A lot of families will be there because of the price, but it is pretty far away from everything. If you are looking at staying at one of the All Star Resorts, definitely take that into consideration.

Caribbean Beach- Currently this is my favourite Disney Resort, and the one I’ve stayed at the most! I’ve stayed here 4 times! I love the theme, how bright and colourful it is, and the location. It’s near both Epcot and Hollywood Studios, so you can sometimes see fireworks form the main pool! It is a very large resort so it can be pretty spread out, which is about the only downside. Because the resort is so large and there are multiple bus stops around the resort, if you happen to be at one of the last stops, buses can fill up before they get to you. I find at moderate resorts there aren’t quite as many families (you are still in WDW so there will be families everywhere), so it can feel a lot more relaxing paying a little more to stay at a moderate.

Pop Century- I’ve stayed here 3 times (I think). For a Value Resort I think it is my favourite (I haven’t stayed at Art Of Animation and I’m sure as soon I do this will change), but the location is great! I believe every time we have stayed here we paid extra to have “Preferred Location” aka close to the bus stop and food court, which I would recommend. Value resorts are huge and that can mean a long walk back to the room at night. A lot of families stay here because it is the least expensive option, but I would definitely take a preferred location room into account. Of the Value Resorts (which include the All Stars, it definitely has the best location.)

I found a picture I took back in 2008!

Port Orleans Riverside- The first trip Ethan and I took to Walt Disney by ourselves was in 2013, and we stayed here. I really liked the feel of the resort, but found it super confusing. We stayed in the Alligator Bayou section, and the entire section is filled with identical buildings! At this point I was used to Caribbean Beach where the sections are all different colours so you can tell them apart easily, so it was definitely a change. The location is great for people who want to go to Disney Springs easily (you can take a boat). The atmosphere is very relaxing, and the trees are beautiful. For an adults only trip, I would recommend this resort for sure!

I hope you enjoyed taking a look at some of the Disney Resorts I’ve stayed at, I definitely want to try them all! I apologize for the lack of pictures, I apparently don’t take pictures of the resorts! I will make sure to change that on my next trip!

What Disney Resorts have you stayed at? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you so much for reading!

Weekend Vlog: August 19th-21st

Hello everyone! I thought I would try something new, so two weeks ago I tried vlogging! Ethan and I went away for the weekend, and I thought I would bring you with me! We attended Summerfolk music festival in Owen Sound, and had a great time! This post is going to be short, as the main event is the video below! Please go easy on me as this was my first time vlogging, but I hope you enjoy! Also let me know if this is something you would like to see more often!

I have to admit vlogging was different than I thought it would be, and I admire the Youtubers who do it every day! I know the vlog was a little choppy and maybe a bit awkward, but it’s something I hope to get better at! I did switch between to cameras, a camcorder and a handheld, so I apologize for the difference in quality. A music festival probably wouldn’t be the best place to bring a camcorder, so I chose not to. I hope you can all understand!

If there is a type of video you would like to see me do, please let me know in the comments!

Thank you so much for watching my first vlog!
