Monthly Favourites- April 2016

It’s monthly favourites time! I’m sharing my favourite things in entertainment, clothing, beauty and everything in between! Let’s get started!

Monthly Favourites April 2016

Entertainment

Sex and the City 1&2- The movies recently made their way onto Netflix, so I had to revisit them! I forgot how good the first one was, and how bad the second one was! I definitely enjoyed watching them both, and seeing Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda again.

Room by Emma Donoghue- This month I read the book and watched the movie! I really enjoyed both. I read the book fairly quickly, and enjoyed the story. It’s hard to believe that the story isn’t that far fetched, and actually happens. I enjoyed the movie and thought Brie Larson did a great job in her role.

Zootopia- I finally saw Zootopia and loved it! I thought it had a great message, and the characters were great! The song by Shakira was totally stuck in my head after too.

Beauty

Beauty Blender- I may be the last person to try a beauty blender, but I am a convert! I am really enjoying applying my foundation with the BB, and it does a great job. I used to apply it with a brush, and found that I would get brush strokes on my face, and who wants that! After trying the BB, I definitely noticed a difference.

Tattoo Liner by Kat Von D– I know I mentioned my favourite eyeliner in my February Favourites post, but I have found a new favourite! The Revlon one is still my top pick from a drugstore, but the Kat Von D one is amazing. It glides on like a brush and I can get much closer to the lash line. I feel like I can apply it much faster, and make fewer mistakes which is awesome!

Full Lash Bloom Mascara by Covergirl- I am really loving this mascara! It spreads my lashes and doesn’t clump, and the formula isn’t too wet. It’s amazing how when you find a product you enjoy how much you realize what you were using wasn’t the best. That is definitely how I felt when I found this mascara! I hate to throw out things that I haven’t used up, but my old mascara might have to go.

Rose Gold Nail Polish by Joe Fresh- This was definitely a spur of the moment purchase, but I’m loving it! at $4.99 it was a great deal and the colour is beautiful! It changes in the light and doesn’t have a sparkle that makes out hard to remove. I’m sold! I couldn’t find a link, but put a picture below:

Miscellaneous

Avocado Toast on Squirrely Bread by Silver Hills– I talk more about this in the video below, but I’ve surprised myself with my slowly changing eating habits. Avocado Toast was something that sounded kind of gross, but once I tried it I found a new favourite! I have a piece of toast with a 1/4 of mashed avocado, fried egg and cheese on a piece of Squirrely Bread. The bread is made with sprouted grains so it has more protein and keeps me full for hours. The Squirrely one specifically has seeds so it’s much more flavourful, and the slices are a little thicker.

Monthly Favourites- March 2016

Happy Spring everyone! I can’t believe it’s already monthly favourites time! I’m happy to share some of my favourite things from the past month, from entertainment, clothing, beauty, and anything in between. Let’s get started!

Monthly Faves March 2016

Entertainment

James Bay– Ethan put his music on one morning and I’d heard him on the radio a little, and I kept finding myself putting his music on. He has a beautiful voice that reminds me of James Morrison, and sound that is just so pleasing to the ears.

Disney Parks Background Music– If you like Disney as much as I do you know how much you miss the parks in between trips. Something that has helped me (this month at least lol) is playlists on YouTube. There’s something about the background music that just makes me feel like I’m there. it’s one of my favourite details of the park, and when I’m listening to the music at home, I can’t wait until the next time I’m hearing it in person at the parks.

Fuller House- I’m sure anyone who wanted to watch this already has, and I’m definitely taking my time watching it! Because there are only 13 episodes and it will probably be a year before the next season is up, I wanted to watch it slowly. I also have a low attention span so I have trouble binge-watching shows.

Survivor- The newest season of Survivor is in full swing, and I’m enjoying it! Survivor is one of the only shows I watch religiously (only talking is allowed at commercials) and I’ve been watching it as long as I can remember!

Pitch Perfect 2- I watched this movie a few weeks ago, and it is still as funny as it was when I saw it in theatres!

If you watched or read last month’s favourites, I finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire this month! Sharing what I’m reading has definitely motivated me to read more, so I hope to share a new read next month, stay tuned! I am also now on Season 5 of Gilmore Girls (my favourite episode is “We Got Us a Pippi Virgin”), and Ethan and I are now on Season 4 of Suits.

Beauty

Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Cantaloupe Cream- I’ve bought two of these and like how they add a little bit of colour, and keep my lips hydrated for hours.

Smashbox Full Exposure Travel Palette– I bought the travel size version of this palette, and am really enjoying it! I like that is has the same shades with and without shimmer, and  have to say the price was right! I don’t wear eye shadow every day, but I found myself wearing it quite a bit in march!

Clothing

Mickey Sweater– I actually bought this sweater the day I filmed last months favourites (I’m wearing it too because I was so excited) and I absolutely love it. It’s so soft and cozy, and I made sure to get a large size so it’s loose fitting. I got the Stitch one as well 🙂

Miscellaneous

David’s Tea kit– I actually got this for Christmas as a Secret Santa/Gift Exchange gift. I had been thinking about getting some tea and liked the kit that I could try a bunch of different varieties and then upsize the ones I liked. It’s very relaxing to sit down with a hot cup of tea!

Tea mug– I saw this mug and knew I had to have it. I love puns, and only drink my tea in this.

Special K Pastry Crisps- I usually have these with my lunch and the cookies and creme are my favourite. They taste like Pop Tarts! I usually but the assorted pack from Costco, which lasts a while.

Fibre One bars- I recently discovered these and fell in love. I don’t want anyone else eating these so I stocked up! They aren’t like a normal granola bar, they are made with the puffed grain cereal and are delicious! They get me through the last few hours of my work day.

And that’s it for this month! If you’d like to hear a little more about my monthly favourites check out the coordinating video below:

What did you enjoy in March? I’d love to know! If you’d like to share, let me know in the comments!

Monthly Favourites- February 2016

I’ve been thinking of ways that I can share more of my life, and I thought starting a new routine would be a great way to do that! Once a month I want to post about the things I am enjoying, my monthly favourites. The items will change but it’s fun to think about the things that bring me joy, and I like reading about other peoples favourites each month. Over time I will try to sort the items into categories, but it may take a while to figure out. I’ve linked all the items, so just hover over the text and pictures to click the link! Okay, let’s get started!

Monthly Favourites

Entertainment

Books- I am a bookworm. I definitely don’t read as much as I would like to, but I am always reading something. Right now I’m re-reading the Harry Potter series (currently on the Goblet of Fire), and I’ve also been reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. I have yet to actually go through anything, but reading the book is getting me ready. Let me know if you would be interested in my experience with the Kon-Mari method! I also am interested in the “sequel” Spark Joy, and hope to read that soon.

Music- I always look forward to visiting Ethan’s Parents, and because they are a 2 1/2 hour drive away, I look forward to spending time in the car with Ethan. When we went up Valentine’s weekend we listened to both of Christina Perri’s cds. We saw her when she opened up for Ed Sheeran last year, and bought her cds after enjoying her set so much! I forgot how much I enjoyed her music, and loved listening in the car.

T.V.- Ethan and I have been watching Suits on Netflix lately, and I really like this show! We are on Season 3 now, and are watching it fairly quickly (for us anyways). It’s filmed in Toronto so I like to spot easter eggs of the city I visited daily for school a few years ago. If you haven’t watched it I would recommend giving it a try! I’ve also been watching some of my all time favourites, Gilmore Girls and How I Met Your Mother. I haven’t watched HIMYM all the way through since it ended, and I’m not sure if I will (I hated the ending). I’m currently on Season 2, and I enjoy the earlier seasons more than the newer ones.

Clothing

Wishes Shirt– I was so excited for this shirt to come I posted on Instagram as soon as it came. (Not following me yet? Click here to start!) I actually saw it on Instagram and knew I had to have it. If you like subtle Disney merchandise, definitely check them out!

Old Navy Go Warm Compression Leggings– I wish I could live in these! They are so comfortable and surprisingly warm. I like to wear them while I lounge around the house or during light workouts. I got them on sale, and am so happy I did. I buy a lot of stuff at Old Navy, mostly because they always have sales on. I love to shop online, and I use Ebates when I do! If you’ve never heard of Ebates all you do it log in, search the store you are looking to shop for and click to start shopping. You get different percentages of cash back, but it actually works. Click here to sign up if you are interested.

Beauty

Revlon Eyeliner- I want to start by saying I know pretty much nothing about makeup! I’ve started using pen eyeliners, and find them easier to apply. I thought I would try this one as it was thinner than the one I had, and I really like it! As much as I like ordering from Sephora, it’s nice to be able to grab something from the drugstore when you are close-by.

Nail Polish- I surprised myself with wanting to paint my nails. When I went to chef school we weren’t allowed to wear nail polish, so I hadn’t really wanted to in a long time. Now I’ve been doing my nails once a week and it’s nice to have some “me” time. It’s also a bonus that I’ve very slow, so I get even more “me” time ha!

Bath and Body Works Body Cream– Unfortunately I couldn’t find the Strawberry & Bourbon Vanilla one I’ve been loving, but they have so many scents available! This cream soaks into my skin and smells so good! I’ve loved the True Blue Spa creams but they were a little pricy, so the body creams are a great replacement. There are always sales and coupons to use, so I love stocking up!

Miscellaneous

Crispy Minis! Salt & Vinegar specifically. I love potato chips (they are my weakness) and since I’ve been doing the Tone It Up Challenge, I’ve been looking for a treat that was healthier. I found them!

February Favourites

Guys. I’m super excited/nervous to share that I started a YouTube channel! Please bear with me as I get used to editing videos, but my first video is up! If you are more of a visual person, I talk a little more about all of the products listed. I’m not sure exactly how often I will upload videos, but it’s something I’m excited to do! Please like my videos, and subscribe! 😀 Also let me know in the comments if there are any videos you’d like to see me make!

I’d love to hear what you are enjoying lately, so let me know in the comments if you care to share!
