Monthly Favourites- April 2016

It’s monthly favourites time! I’m sharing my favourite things in entertainment, clothing, beauty and everything in between! Let’s get started!

Monthly Favourites April 2016

Entertainment

Sex and the City 1&2- The movies recently made their way onto Netflix, so I had to revisit them! I forgot how good the first one was, and how bad the second one was! I definitely enjoyed watching them both, and seeing Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda again.

Room by Emma Donoghue- This month I read the book and watched the movie! I really enjoyed both. I read the book fairly quickly, and enjoyed the story. It’s hard to believe that the story isn’t that far fetched, and actually happens. I enjoyed the movie and thought Brie Larson did a great job in her role.

Zootopia- I finally saw Zootopia and loved it! I thought it had a great message, and the characters were great! The song by Shakira was totally stuck in my head after too.

Beauty

Beauty Blender- I may be the last person to try a beauty blender, but I am a convert! I am really enjoying applying my foundation with the BB, and it does a great job. I used to apply it with a brush, and found that I would get brush strokes on my face, and who wants that! After trying the BB, I definitely noticed a difference.

Tattoo Liner by Kat Von D– I know I mentioned my favourite eyeliner in my February Favourites post, but I have found a new favourite! The Revlon one is still my top pick from a drugstore, but the Kat Von D one is amazing. It glides on like a brush and I can get much closer to the lash line. I feel like I can apply it much faster, and make fewer mistakes which is awesome!

Full Lash Bloom Mascara by Covergirl- I am really loving this mascara! It spreads my lashes and doesn’t clump, and the formula isn’t too wet. It’s amazing how when you find a product you enjoy how much you realize what you were using wasn’t the best. That is definitely how I felt when I found this mascara! I hate to throw out things that I haven’t used up, but my old mascara might have to go.

Rose Gold Nail Polish by Joe Fresh- This was definitely a spur of the moment purchase, but I’m loving it! at $4.99 it was a great deal and the colour is beautiful! It changes in the light and doesn’t have a sparkle that makes out hard to remove. I’m sold! I couldn’t find a link, but put a picture below:

Miscellaneous

Avocado Toast on Squirrely Bread by Silver Hills– I talk more about this in the video below, but I’ve surprised myself with my slowly changing eating habits. Avocado Toast was something that sounded kind of gross, but once I tried it I found a new favourite! I have a piece of toast with a 1/4 of mashed avocado, fried egg and cheese on a piece of Squirrely Bread. The bread is made with sprouted grains so it has more protein and keeps me full for hours. The Squirrely one specifically has seeds so it’s much more flavourful, and the slices are a little thicker.

Birthday/Outlet Mall Haul

Hi friends, happy Wednesday! As you may or may not know, it was my birthday a few weeks ago. I thought I would share some of the things I received with you. I also made a trip to the Toronto Premium Outlets last weekend, so I though I would put this small haul in there as well! Take a look in the video below to see what I got!

Details on the goodies!

Celebrate by Lauren Conrad- I’m a huge Lauren Conrad fan, and I love her book, so I’m happy to have gotten her newest book! I’m enjoying it so far, and can’t wait to put the knowledge to use.

If/Then Soundtrack- Ethan and I went to see this musical a few weeks ago, and getting the soundtrack helps me remember what happened after I’ve seen it! I’m enjoying getting to know the musical a little better, plus I get to listen to Idina Menzel. Idina= QUEEN.

Disney Goodies- On my next trip I’m getting a few things as belated birthday gifts. One is a surprise, one is Memory Maker, and another is a Stitch MagicBand! Unfortunately the Disney store won’t ship the MagicBand to Canada (and it’s not available online in the colour I would like), so I’ll be picking that up while I’m down there! I won’t be announcing the date of my next trip for a while just in case, but know that I do have a trip coming up, and I am counting down the days! 😀

Kate Spade Purse- I have been wanting a new purse for a while, and I knew I wanted a Kate Spade one. I was thinking of getting black so it will go with everything, and I like the style that can be a crossbody but also has straps for wearing on your arm. I decided to get a colourful wallet as well, and I’m so happy with my new selections! You can find the purse I got here, and the wallet here (I just got it in the beautiful blue you can see in the video)!

I also went to National Sports on the way home from the outlets, because the shoe stores didn’t have great deals. My Saucony running shoes were nearing a year old, and they were a little uncomfortable on one foot so I was looking for something else. I was also looking for a new pair of shoes to wear everyday, because although I was loving wearing my converse again, they are so bad for your feet! I got a supportive pair of Saucony’s that is mostly black and I really like! For my new running shoes I thought I would try out a pair of Asics, and while I haven’t worn them yet for working out (I’ve been working extra hours this week!), they are so pretty!

I hope you enjoyed this small haul, let me know if you’d like to see more of this type of content in the comments!

Thank you so much for reading!

Tea Talk/ Check In

Hey everyone! I have been wanting to do a bit of a casual/housekeeping post for a while, and I figured sitting down with a cup of tea while I wrote this was the perfect way to start. I welcome you to grab a drink while you read…. got it yet? Perfect. Let’s sip away.

Tea talk

First of all, can you believe this blog has been up for over 9 months? Where does the time go?! When I started this blog, I started it as a resource for Disney enthusiasts, to help people who are planning Disney vacations, and to share my crazy amount of knowledge about Disney. Since I decided I wanted to start a blog, I have read so much about blogging, growing traffic, you name it. A lot of other bloggers (who blog about blogging) say that you shouldn’t blog about you, because who cares? That was one of the reasons I felt I should blog about Disney primarily, and maybe throw in the odd personal post.

As I’ve been blogging for many months now, I can see where I want the blog to be, and it’s shifting a bit. You may have noticed that the number of Disney posts has gone down, and the number of “personal” posts has gone up. I created this blog with the intention of sharing as well as Disney things, but it took a while for me to feel comfortable sharing more about myself, and finding my groove in blogging. When the blog first launched, you may have noticed that tagline: My Life, My Adventures, My Love of Disney and think “she’s only talking about Disney, why does she have that other stuff in there?”. Well, I’ve been thinking about it for that long, and now I’m happy with where I am and where the blog is going.

Even with the addition of personal posts, that is in no way the only thing I will be blogging about. I still have a lot of Disney knowledge to share, it’s just going to be a little more spread out. Obviously Disney is still a very large part of my life, and that’s not going to change anytime soon. Expect a lot of Disney content after my next trip especially, because I have lots of plans! You would be surprised with how many ideas I have, and lack of pictures from my last trip (even though I took thousands of pictures, and had no idea I was going to start a blog in which I needed those pictures). It’s hard to write specific posts about things that you didn’t take any pictures of and post it on a blog where you only use personal pictures! Let’s just say after my next trip I should be more prepared!

You may have also noticed that I started a YouTube channel, which I have thought about for a while. It gives me another way to share, and it’s nice to change it up a bit. When I started the channel I wasn’t quite sure how often I was going to put videos up, but now that I’ve scheduled posts for the next few months, I created a goal. The goal is to post two videos a month, but with co-ordinating blog posts as well. So, if you don’t love the videos, there is still blog content for you. And with the videos, you might also get to know me a little better! I’ve already learned so much in the four videos I’ve posted, and I can’t wait to keep learning.

You may have also noticed that there are some affiliate links on the blog now. I want to be as open as possible, so I will always put a disclaimer in the posts with affiliate links. The links are only on items that I personally have bought, and enjoyed. These links don’t cost you anything by clicking, and I receive a very small commission if you purchase by using the links. Blogging takes up a lot of time, and I really enjoy doing it, but making a (very) small amount of money for all the time I put in would be a nice benefit. That is not to say that I’m trying to get rich or anything, and I definitely am only writing this blog because I enjoy it. I hope that being open about it helps you to understand where I am coming from. I in no way want to make you think that I am trying to take advantage of your readership, because I appreciate it so much!

I do hope that you are enjoying what is here on A Disney Obsession, and I hope you like where it is heading. I really enjoy having this little space of the internet, and sharing my life with you. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey!

Now here is where you come in! Please let me know in the comments what you enjoy (or don’t enjoy). It is very hard to gauge what people like just by numbers, so I want to hear from you! Please let me know if there is anything you would like to see on the blog, or in videos! More videos? Behind the scenes things? More Disney? More about me? Seriously, I want to know!

Thank you so much for reading!
