A Disney Obsession Turns 3!

I can’t believe I’m writing this, but A Disney Obsession is 3! Here’s to celebrating another year of blogging! It’s hard to believe that three years ago today this blog went live! It feels like it’s been a long time, but also it feels like just yesterday that I started this thing.

A Disney Obsession Turns 3!

I cringe a little when looking back at what it fist looked like… remember the pink?

I feel like the layout now suits me SO much better! And I feel like I’ve really found my groove with posting and filming. I plan on doing some behind the scenes blogging/ filming type posts that go more into how I’ve found that balance and routine.

Make sure to sign up for my newsletter, because on Saturday I’ll be sending out a special email with some of my favourite blog posts from the last year! I have plans for the newsletter as well, so make sure to sign up if you haven’t already!

Speaking of my newsletter, if you’ve signed up, what would you like to see? I’ve been neglecting it for a very long time, but really want to be more consistent! I think I’ll start with monthly emails recapping posts, plus extra Disney tips and any news! Let me know what you think!

Looking Back

As usual I will have a post in the coming weeks with some things I learned in my 3rd year of blogging for the other bloggers out there!

I’m excited for the future of the blog, especially with my wedding coming up and a house being built! I have so many ideas for posts, that I’m working into 2019! But if there’s something you’d like to see on the blog, please let me know! I am always open to changing the schedule! 🙂

I feel like I have come a long way since starting the blog. I’m much more confident! Even though it is nice to hide behind my computer sometimes, I’ve become a lot more confident in my writing, my content, and especially filming! It’s hard to believe I just posted Weekend Vlog #66 two days ago! If you aren’t subscribed to my YouTube channel yet, click here! I still feel self conscious filming in public, by I’m trying not to worry about it! I’m happy to have all of the memories from vlogging, and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon.

A Disney Obsession

This blog would not be where it is today (nor do I think it would still exist) without you! It means the world to me that you read and follow and support everything I’ve started here! I hope you enjoy what I have to share with you. It’s hard to put into words just how much your support means to me, but just know that it is what keeps me going when it’s late at night and a blog post isn’t quite finished yet, or when I don’t feel like setting up my lights and camera, it’s all worth it!

Thank you so much for your support in (my) A Disney Obsession!

Drunk Elephant Skincare Review: Is It Worth The Money?

Hello friends, I hope you are well! I recently picked up some Drunk Elephant products during the Sephora Spring Sale, and I thought I would show you how they are working for me! I’m going to share the products I have currently, and how I use them, as well as what I think of them and if I would repurchase them. I’ve been using them for just over 9 weeks, so I’ll also share what products have stuck around the longest! Drunk Elephant skincare is expensive, so I’m also sharing if I think it’s worth the money! Okay, let’s get started!

So to start I thought I should mention the products I purchased. I bought The Littles, which come with 8 different products, as well as the travel pack of the bar cleansers.

Pekee Bar Cleanser– The first thing I use when getting ready in the morning is the Pekee cleanser. It lathers up really well and leaves my face feeling clean and ready for the day. I puchased the travel pack of this and the juju (mentioned later), and they are holding up really well. I think they will last close to six months. I would repurchase it, possibly even in the larger size because it would last probably a year or more.

C-Firma Day Serum– After my face is dry, I apply the C-Firma Day Serum that is fairly liquidy. This is one product that I’ve read you should not stock up on, because it changes in color and you don’t want to use it when it does. It starts as a honey-ish yellowy orange (the technical name lol), and if it becomes orange you should stop using it. I’ve liked using this serum, and would repurchase it.

Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defence SPF– Next I apply some SPF! This mineral sunscreen doesn’t leave a white residue on my skin which it nice. I find it’s a little goopy with the twist cap at the bottom, and a bit of it hardens (like toothpaste on the cap or a pump bottle of lotion), which is a little annoying. The full size has a different cap so I might be willing to try it, but I’d also be open to trying another brand.

B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel– I finish up with this moisture gel. It’s not a moisturizer, but I was surprised with how much I loved it! It’s clear, hydrating, and goes on really nicely! It was the first product to run out (after just more than 7 weeks) and I was surprisingly sad! I will definitely be repurchasing this in the full size.

Juju Bar Cleanser– I generally shower at night, so if I do I use this exfoliating cleanser. It’s so gentle! It’s like a fine grit sand, but it feels so nice on my face! It’s in a bar form as well, and has held up really nicely. I would repurchase it, and again potentially in the larger size because I could see it lasting up to a year.

Best No. 9 Jelly Cleanser– I use this cleanser if I don’t shower. This is the one product that I am not a fan of. I don’t like the way it lathers, and I don’t think it does a great job taking off my makeup which it is supposed to do. I won’t repurchase it, and will use the pekee bar morning and night instead. I also don’t like the twist cap, because it leaks a lot!

TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum– Once my face is clean and dry, I put the Night Syrum on. It’s acid based and I thought I would have to ease into using it, but I went straight to using it every night! A little goes a long way, and I only need one pump from the small bottle. I would re-purchase this!

Virgin Marula Luxury Facial oil– Next I go in with the Maurla oil. It’s the first oil I’ve used and my face, and I though it would leave my face feeling greasy. It doesn’t! It soaks up really nicely. This was the second bottle I used up in just under 8 weeks. I would repurchase this, and even the smaller size available at Sephora I think would last quite a while!

Shaba Complex Eye Serum– My Second last step is the eye serum! I’ve actually noticed a big difference with the bags under my eyes! I use maybe half a pump of this and it’s more than enough. I think the small bottle will last me a while still!

Lala Retro Whipped Cream– Lastly I go in with even more moisture, the whipped moisturizer! I love this product. My skin feels so nice after using it! It’s very light, and a little goes a long way. The small pot will last a while still (even though I’m now using in mornings because the B Hydra ran out). I will purchase the full size, which has a neat dispensing mechanism!

Whew! That was a lot. Now for the grand reveal! Here is my skin after using these products for nine weeks.

Let’s look at the before and after side by side!

what I will purchase next

I’m trying to hold off on purchasing the full sizes until the next Sephora sale in November, and get the most for my money until then. Because I ran out of the B-Hydra first (and because it might be my favourite product in the line) I will purchase the full size. I’m also looking at purchasing the Acid Trip Kit from Sephora, which has the C Fima and TLC Framboos in larger size than the littles, but not the full size, plus the little size of the Marula Oil. From there, I will slowly work my way up to the full size as I run out of the other products!

Overall thoughts

Overall I am really happy with the results I’ve seen! I’m happy I invested in my skincare, and I will continue to do so! If you would like to try Drunk Elephant products, I think The Littles are a great place to start! And you can see a difference even in the amount of time you go through the small sizes!

Monthly Favourites- May 2018!

Hello everyone, and Happy June! I can’t believe summer is almost here, and I’m so happy the weather has warmed up! Today I’m sharing some of my favourite things from the month of May, from entertainment, to beauty, some books, and a recipe! Okay, let’s get started!

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel– Ethan and I are probably the last people on Earth to get Amazon Prime, but as soon as we did I started watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon prime Video! This show is from the creator of Gilmore Girls, and I’ve been loving the first season! It’s only 8 epsiodes, and is definitely more adult than Gilmore Girls (aka swearing and nudity). It’s about Midge Maisel who is trying to become a stand up comic in the 1950’s. It’s really good!

Waitress Broadway soundtrack- I feel like I haven’t mentioned a music favourite in a while! I first head about it through KyleandCourt, and then I kept hearing about it everywhere! So I listened to it, and without having seen the movie I had no idea what was going on. So I watched the movie and now I get it! The musical is coming to Toronto next year I believe, so I hope I can go seeing it after falling in love with the soundtrack!

Monthly Favourites May 2018

New Light by John Mayer– I love the song, but the video is GOLD. I really like the song, it feels like a good song for driving in the car this summer! But the music video it where it’s at. You have to watch it! I like that John Mayer can make fun of himself and not take himself too seriously. I’ve linked the video for your enjoyment! 🙂

I read 3 books this month! All part of a 5-book series by Kiera Cass.  I heard about them from the Young House Love Podcast (which I’ve mentioned in a favourites before)! The first 3 books are one story, and the second two jump forward in time and are another story, but with familiar characters. I flew through these books, like read the second two in a day each. They are really good! I would describe them as a cross between The Hunger Games and The Bachelor. The books include: The Selection, The Elite, and The One. Below is the description of the Selection from Amazon.ca

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape a rigid caste system, live in a palace, and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her, and competing for a crown she doesn’t want.

Then America meets Prince Maxon—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Biosilk Silk Therapy– I’ve been using this for a while when I get out of the shower and it smells so good! I got the bottle at Costco, and it’s works well to detangle my hair (which is getting pretty long)! My hairdresser uses it and my Mom used to use it all the time, so the smell is very familiar to me!

Monthly Favourites May 2018

Garmin Forerunner 35– I got my fitness and GPS tracker for Christmas, but I wanted to use it for a while before mentioning it! It tracks my heart rate, steps, sleep quality, plus GPS for running. It has tons of settings like intervals, goal pace and more that I played around with in May. The battery lasts 1-2 weeks depending on how much you work out with it. Without giving this watch an entire post, I would recommend it! I talk a bit more about it in the video below as well.

Monthly Favourites May 2018

Old Navy ankle socks– This might be random, but I wanted to mention my favourite socks. They are great for working out, nice and thin, and cheap too! I always buy them on sale and have a bunch of pairs in grey and black. They aren’t “fitness” socks, but I’ve worn them at Walt Disney World, plus running 15K! They are ankle socks, but don’t slide down giving me blisters. I have a ton of pairs in grey and black.

Monthly Favourites May 2018

Vegan buddha bowl– Okay, number 1, the picture is gorgeous, and number 2 this bowl is delicious! The spiced roasted chickpeas are my favourite part! Ethan and I are trying to meal prep some healthier lunches, and we’ve been liking bowls! This recipe was easy to make and you can easily make enough for a full week of meals!

Monthly Favourites May 2018

Salt and Vingear cracker chips by Special K– These have been my chips lately, they are slightly healthier than regular chips, but addicting! I’m very picky when it comes to my salt and vinegar flavour, and these are very good!
