Hello 2017!

Hello everyone, and Happy New Year! And hello 2017! I hope you all got to spend some time with loved ones over the last few weeks, and are ready for the new year! Just like last year I thought I would share some of the things I got for Christmas, and some of my goals for the new year. I’m calling them goals instead of New Years Resolutions in the hopes that I will actually accomplish them! Maybe at the end of the year I can do a post about how I did? Let me know what you think in the comments! Enough rambling, let’s get started!

Some of my new favourite things!

Roots Sweatpants- I’ve wanted a pair of sweatpants from Roots for a while now, and I was so surprised when Ethan got me a pair! They are so comfortable, and a slim fit so they aren’t too baggy. I swear I can’t wait to go home after work to change into them. Ethan bought them at a local Roots Outlet, so I couldn’t find a link, but there is a picture below!

Hunter Boots– This year I really struggled trying to think of things I wanted for Christmas. I think it has to do with getting older, and maybe I have enough stuff? Anyways, a last minute idea was a pair of Hunter Boots, because I don’t have a pair of rain boots. My parents weren’t sure which style I wanted or sizing so they gave me some money and I picked up a pair.

I actually bought them on Boxing Day and they were on sale, but I  saved more money because I bought the kids size! My feet are a 6.5 or 7, so they fit into the largest kids size. I saved about $50! So I can wear them in the winter, I also picked up a pair of the socks, which were also cheaper than the adult size. I probably could have bought the adult size boots, but they were a bit too tall for my liking, and I’m quite proud of myself for saving some money!

Naked 3 Palette by Urban Decay– I’ve had my eye on this palette for a while, but the price made it a little hard to justify. Insert Christmas! I actually had a $15 discount code from Sephora and used that to pick this up (my sister paid for it), so I actually got it for a decent price! It’s beautiful and I’m so happy using it every day! I love the pink tones and how natural they are!

Talking as fast as I can by Lauren Graham- I am devouring this book! You probably know how much I love Gilmore Girls, but I’ve also watched Parenthood and I’m basically a huge Lauren Graham fan. I’ve read her novel, so when I found out she has written another book (this one about herself), I knew I had to get my hands on it. I find behind the scenes things really interesting, so I love hearing all about what Gilmore Girls was like (both times), and Parenthood. If you are a Lauren Graham fan, definitely ready this book! I can hear her voice when I’m reading it, and it’s funny too! Seriously, I can’t say enough good things about this book.

The Baker in Me by Daphna Rabinovitch- If you guys have read my About Me page, or just happen to know this about me, I bake! I got a new cookbook (are books about baking still called cookbooks, even when they are about baking?), and I’m excytiting to try some of these recipes! Something about baking makes we feel all warm and cozy, and this book has lots of muffins and breads that I think I will be making this winter!

My goals for 2017

1. Run 100 miles before my birthday- I was running fairly consistantly last summer and into September, but I haven’t run in a while, and I want to get back to that. You guys know I follow Tone it Up, and for their challenges they usually have a 100 mile challenge, to be completed in 8 weeks. I’ve come close to it (other cardio counts as miles, so it’s not all running), but never completed it. This time I’m giving myself extra time (my birthday is April 18th) and I’m hoping to finish early. I’m going to wake up a bit earlier in the mornings so I can get more of a workout in which hopefully will help. If you are interested in seeing what I do for fitness, I have an Instagram account that I use to keep myself accountable. Follow @tiu_kelsey4 if you’d like!

2. Run a 5k for real this time!- This was a resolution for last year that I never completed. I did run 5ks on the treadmill, but I actually want to run a race! I’m hoping to find one soon so I can work towards it, and I’m bringing Ethan with me 🙂

3. No more chips!- I really hope to stick to this one. Chips are such a weakness for me! I’ve been really bad lately, and I think it will help to cut chips out. I’m also trying to eat healthier, starting with what I take to work for my lunches! I figured it was easier to target something specific, rather than just say “I’m going to start eating healthier”. That is a goal, but I’m trying to not be too predictable 😉

4. Post on Instagram regularly- I’m so bad at this! I’m going to try and post every day on Instagram! It makes such a difference when it comes to gaining followers, and I’m really trying to grow! If you aren’t already following that account on Instagram, go follow @ObsessedwDisney 🙂

5. Vlog more- I had a lot of fun vlogging in Walt Disney World, but it’s definitely something I can improve on! I hope to get a better camera for vlogging and I’ve been toying with the idea of vlogging on weekends. I’m not quite sure when that will start (I think Disney Vlogs will continue to run every Friday into March) so probably after that. I’m trying to think of how that will work schedule-wise as well, but it’s definitely something I want to do! I enjoy sharing things and having them to look back on, so hopefully you enjoy what I’m sharing as well!

I think that’s a pretty good start for 2017, and I hope it’s a great year! if there’s anything you’d like to see in a blog post or a video, please let me know! What are your plans for 2017? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you as always for reading!

Erin Condren Wedding Planner Haul + Giveaway!

Friends, I have been waiting for my planner to come to give you an inside look, and today is the day! As you know I recently got engaged, and as soon as wedding talk started, I knew I needed a place to write everything down, keep everything in one place, and stay organized. You probably know how much I love my Life Planner from Erin Condren, so of course I looked at their Wedding Planner! If you’d like $10 off your first order with Erin Condren, click here. I filmed a video walking you through the whole thing, so let’s jump right in!

We hadn’t set a date when I bought the planner, and because we would be engaged more than a year before we get married, so I went ahead and bought the 2 year planner. I figured if I really wanted to I can just rip the months out from when we are married, to free up some space. I like that the calendar pages come blank, and with the date dots, so you make it yourself and it fits any year. The only part that doesn’t quite make sense is in the bottom right in the picture below, the years don’t change between the months. Instead of 2016 and 2017, and 2017 and 2018, it’s 2016 and 2017 for both years, meaning they used the same paper. I don’t think I would look at those much anyways, but it’s something to note.

At the beginning of the planner is the calendar, complete with a goals sidebar for each month, a note page on the back and a quote page for each month.

Next is a timeline which is definitely helpful, and you can check things off as you complete them. We will have lots of time to do all of the things listed, and I already think I want to spread stuff out to keep my stress levels low!

Next are pages for the wedding party, guest list, seating plans, floral arrangements, photo lists, writing your vows and the cake tasting.

A page to keep all of the vendor information is super helpful. I can already see how easy it will be to have all of that information in one place. There’s even two extra spots for any other vendors you may have.

I think my favourite part might be all of the note pages at the back! With a coil style planner instead of a binder, I don’t have to worry about running out of space! There are lined pages and blank, so I have plenty of options.

Lastly there’s a folder to keep any samples or anything that I want to keep with the planner that I don’t want to attach inside. It also comes with the keep it together pouch that you clip in with a coil clip, I put it just behind this folder.

A note about the Date Dots

If you watch the video below, you can probably hear the disappointment in my voice when I realized that for a 24 month planner I was only given 12 months of date dots, and those 12 month clash with the color scheme. I’ve reached out to Erin Condren customer service, and haven’t been too pleased with their response. They are sending more date dots to make up the other twelve months, but we will see if they are the same colour or not. (Update: They are the same colours, aka the old ones.) I believe they only make the date dots in the old colour scheme from what I see on the website, which just doesn’t add up. Why change the colour scheme of you product if you aren’t going to change it everywhere?

I don’t want this blog to just be sunshine and rainbows, and I want to share my experiences with you, so I thought it was important to mention. When I told Ethan about it he pointed out that this is not the first time an order has had something wrong with it, which is true. I think in the past I’ve been so excited about what I was getting that the mistakes couldn’t dampen my spirits, but I’m feeling a little different this time. In the past covers have been made with the wrong names on them, and the customer service response well, sucked. It’s leaving me feeling a little unsure of supporting a business that doesn’t care too much about their customers.

it’s giveaway time!

Instead of ending this post on a sour note, I’m doing another giveaway! I’m giving away TWO (yes two!) notebooks! The giveaway will run for one week, and will end . If you are under the age of 18 please ask parental permission before entering. It’s open internationally and I will email the winners directly. The first to get back to me with their preference of notebook will get their choice!

2016 has been an interesting year, but a good one for me, and I just wanted to thank you all for keeping with me on this journey! It means so much to me, and I can’t wait to see what 2017 brings!

Monthly Favourites- November 2016

Hello everyone! It’s officially my favourite time of year! I love getting cozy on the couch and watching Christmas movies, seeing the lights on my drive home from work and don’t even get me started on how much I love Christmas music! It feels a little weird that a just over a month ago I was in Disney where it was decked out for the holidays! It’s Monthly Favourites time and I’m sharing some of my favourite things from the past month. I sharing everything from entertainment, beauty, and everything else. Okay, let’s get started!

Monthly Favourite November 2016

Moving the McGilivrays- I have been on an HGTV binge lately, I can watch pretty much anything on that channel! I really only caught the last few episodes of this show, but I liked it! If you are not familiar with it, Scott McGillivray and his family look for their forever home, find it, tear it down, and build a monster home. Some of (most of) the house is over the top, but it was neat to the house come together room by room.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life- You probably know by now that I’m a huge Gilmore Girls fan, so obviously I watched the revival! Ethan was a sport and I watched all of it within the first two days of it’s release. My reaction? I loved it! I laughed, cried (a lot), and don’t even get me started on the final 4 words. After hearing them I burst into tears because I was shocked. No spoilers, but I think that if Sex and the City can get two movies, Gilmore Girls can get another season. I will say one thing, because so many people came back for the revival, I was most excited to see Christopher. Like squealed with excitement when I figured out who Rory was talking to. Who were you most excited to see?

Shisedo Eyelash curler– I have to admit I purchased this over a year ago, and only started using it about two months ago. Man it makes a difference! Mascara is so much easier to apply! I flinched a lot when I first started using it, but I have gotten much better now. Only minimal pinching.  I figured it’s the first step to putting contacts in, which I’ve been avoiding for about 6 months. All I have to do is make an appointment to go back and get used to putting them in and taking them out, and I’ve haven’t called yet. I should really get on that.

Food & Drink

Fruity Pebbles We used GardenGrocer.com for the first time on our trip to Disney, and it worked really well, just not quite in the way we thought (which was on us not them). I thought I would want some Fruity Pebbles one morning so I was going to get the individual portion, but I got the box instead and I’ve been enjoying it as a snack a few nights a week 🙂

Alpine Punch– I’ve mentioned the set of teas I got from David’s Tea a while ago, but I thought I would point out my favourite! It’s great for Fall with hints of apple, cinnamon, ginger and nuts. It’s just makes me feel all warm and cozy!

Disney World- This is an obvious one, but my favourite thing I did in November was go to Walt Disney World! I hope you are enjoying the vlog every Friday, it’s been fun reliving my trip! Don’t forget to Subscribe to get a notification every time I post a video!

Disney shadows

Mugs- Ethan and I got the adorable mugs as an engagement gift from a family friend, and I love them! I’ve seen some variations of the same mugs before but I love how simple these ones are! I also love the handles make a heart!

Cogsworth- I think I’m officially obsessed. I am so happy I picked up Cogsworth when I was in Disney World! He’s adorable, and adds the perfect touch of Disney to the desk in our room.

LaurenConrad.com– I’ve mentioned before how much I like Lauren Conrad, and because I know she got married a few years ago, I went straight to her blog to read EVERYTHING wedding related.

I’m the type of person that didn’t want to know what my ring would look like, and didn’t want to plan my wedding before I got engaged. I had a bit of an idea, but I wanted to leave that excitement for when I was engaged. I don’t have a problem with people who do that, it’s just not me. So now that I’m engaged, I know pretty much nothing about planning a wedding. I’m also the type of person who wants to have all of the information before making a decision, so I’ve been reading everything weeding related for the past month. If you have any tips or reccomendations for me, let me know in the comments!
