Empties- July 2016

Hello everyone! Today I’m sharing a new type of post with you, and empties post! I’m showing you some products that I’ve used up in the last few months. I’ll let you know any thoughts on them, if I would repurchase (or already have), and if I would recommend them! I’ve found links for pretty much everything, so just hover over the product to click the link, or click the picture! Okay let’s get started!

Empties- July 2016

Shower Products

Satsuma Shower Gel– I generally get one of these jumbo shower gels for Christmas each year, and have a stockpile of them! Using it conservatively it lasted over a year, which is awesome. It’s my favourite scent from the Body Shop, so I love using it. I would recommend it, and haven’t personally repurchased it, but like I said I have a few waiting to be used up.

Tea Tree Oil Squeaky Clean Scrub– I bought this on a whim to wash my face in the shower, and I love it! I’m usually not the biggest fan on minty products, or ones that tingle your face, but I really like this one! It leaves my skin feeling refreshed and clean. It was out of stock for a while, but I have since repurchased it and bought an extra just in case!

TreSemme Shampoo- I’ve never really noticed a difference in my hair when using different types of shampoo, so I’m trying different kinds to see if I do notice any differences. I have wavy hair so that was what made me lean towards this one, but again I didn’t really notice a difference. I would buy it again if I wasn’t trying other kinds.

Skin Care Products

Vitamin E Cream Cleanser– Now we’re getting into my daily routine products. I use this first to remove makeup and wash my face. I have already repurchased it, and I love this line by The Body Shop (as you can probably tell!) I generally stock up on all things Body Shop when they offer Buy 3 Get 3 Free (which is fairly often). It is a great deal!

Vitamin E Toner- I use this next with a cotton pad to further remove any makeup and clean my face. I have already repurchased it :). I couldn’t find it on the website, so I’m not sure if it has been discontinued, but I’m glad I stocked up!

Vitamin E Illuminating Moisture Cream– I use this moisturizer in the morning before I put my makeup on, and it keeps my face from drying out through the day. I have repurchased it and would recommend it as well! The only thing to note is the “illuminating” factor. It does brighten your face, so keep that in mind when using. I cover it up with my foundation.

Vitamin E Night Cream– I use this at night as the last step. It keeps the moisture in and leaves my skin feeling awesome! I have repurchased and would recommend it.

Almay Foundation- I’ve bought about three of these, and still have one left. Since I bought it I’ve switched to the True Match Foundation that I mentioned in my May Monthly Favourites. Shoppers Drug Mart doesn’t carry Almay products anymore, so I don’t think I would go out of my way to repurchase this foundation. I think for a lightweight liquid foundation it’s a good start, but I like the other type more.

Urban Decay Setting Spray– This is the only setting spray I’ve ever used, and I like it! I am just waiting to repurchase it again, but the travel size I used up much faster than I thought. The bottle recommends spray 2-4 times, and I would definitely say use 2. Spraying 4 times if definitely why I used it up so fast. I think I will keep the travel size bottle for travelling, and buy the larger size next.

Marcele Eye-Makeup Remover- This is my favourite eye makeup remover! Its gentle on my skin and doesn’t leave the skin around my eyes feeling oily! I just lightly hold a cotton pad over my eye, and gently wipe away all the makeup! I have re-purchased it and would definitely recommend it.

Aveeno- I got this travel size hand cream to keep at my desk at work, and I went through it fairly quickly. I didn’t love the smell, and I didn’t feel like the moisture sunk into my hand like other creams I’ve tried. I wouldn’t buy it again.

Lip Products

EOS Lip Balms- I’ve used up three of these in maybe the last year. My lips get really dry so I have lip balm everywhere. I felt like I had to apply a lot of this lip balm for it to work, and it was awkward to apply when it got near the bottom. For these reasons I probably won’t buy these again. I think I’ll stick to the Burt’s Bees one I mentioned last week.

Lip Smacker– I’ve had this since high school (it stayed in my winter jacket). I think it was Strawberry Banana but the label wore off. Now I wouldn’t repurchase unless I wanted to relive my childhood, and I’m sure some of you would feel the same!

Beach Babe Lip Balms– I bought these along with some other things from Tone It Up, and I did not like them. They are made with coconut oil I believe, but they just felt grainy. I wouldn’t recommend them or re-purchase.

Nivea Chap Stick- I got this pack of two, and hated it. It felt really thick going on my lips, and left them white. Like I was intentionally wearing white lipstick or something. It’s the only thing on this list that I didn’t use up completely.

Hair Products

Garnier Fructus Hair Spray- This hairspray is no longer available in the “hold” that I originally purchased, so I’ve moved on to try something else. I liked it, but don’t want to recommend something that isn’t available anymore! I like hairsprays that hold  nicely, but don’t leave your hair feeling crunchy or hard. This one smelled nice too.

Healthy Sexy Hair- This product I found on Little Miss Momma’s blog, (I pretty much bought everything on her list) when I cut my hair a few years ago. It took me about a year to use up this product, and I liked it. Again with hair products I don’t find a huge difference between products, so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it. I’m trying something else now.

I also filmed a video to go along with this post, check it out below!

I hope you enjoying a look at some of the products I’ve used up lately! This type of post won’t happen very often, but I hope to post another Empties in the future! I also am planning on doing some “get ready with me” type videos, showing my morning and nighttime routines, so keep an eye out for those in the future!

Let me know in the comments if you’ve used any of these products lately, and what you thought! Also, if there’s any new posts you’d like to see on the blog, let me know!

Monthly Favourites- June 2016

Hello friends! I know I say this every month, but I can’t believe another month has come and gone! I’m happy that summer is here, it’s my favourite season! It’s monthly favourites time- and I’m sharing my favourite things from the past month, ranging from entertainment, clothing, beauty and more! Let’s jump right in!

Monthly Favourites June 2016

Entertainment

Gilmore Girls- I try not to repeat myself in these too much, but I finished Gilmore Girls in June and just had to share. It really is one of my favourite shows, and with the revival coming later this year finishing the series leaves me with excitement! I’m trying not to think too much about what the storylines will be, but if you are a fan let me know your predicitions! As always, I’m Team Chris and Team Dean! 😀

Up- It’s been a few years since I’ve watched this movie, and I love it! It was actually my dad’s first time watching it, so it was fun to see what he thought of it. I hope to meet Dug and Russell in Animal Kingdom on my next trip!

Big Brother- I’ve gotten sucked into the newest season that just started, but we’ll see how long I watch it. 3 days a week is quite the commitment! I watched most of last season and am slowly starting to understand the game. Survivor is still my favourite though!

Me Before You- While it’s the only book I read last month, I flew through it! I feel like I have a bit of a different perspective on the story because of my sister who is in a wheelchair (she’s not technically a quadriplegic, but she does have Cerebral Palsy and is in a wheelchair), so it was an interesting read. I hope to see the movie soon!

Clothing

Lululemon Running Shorts- While I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I spent a Christmas present gift card I June, I’m very happy with what I got! I actually don’t think I’d ever been into a Lululemon, and my shopping experience was surprising. I talk more about it in the co-coordinating video if you want to hear more! I picked up two pairs of shorts and a headband. The High Waist Speed ShortSpeed Short, and the Cardio Cross Trainer headband.

Birkenstock Sandals– I’m like yearsss behind on this trend, but I bought my first pair of Birkenstocks last month. My feet tend to swell in the summer, so I though the buckle design would come in handy, and let my feet breathe at the same time. I’m already liking them! I know that once they are broken in more they will be more comfortable, so I’m trying to wear then whenever possible.

Beauty

OPI Oh My Majesty- I believe I saw a picture of this nail polish on Instagram and loved it. The colour is simple but not just white, it sparkles in the light! And because it’s white it makes your hands look more tanned than they are 🙂 I also found it help up much better than all of the nail polishes I have bought recently, so I am very happy with this purchase!

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm- This ultra-moisturizing lip balm stays in my purse and I love it! It goes on so smoothly and keeps my lips moisturized for hours! I don’t like minty lip balms which I find some Burt’s Bees ones to be, so I’m definitely happy with this one!

YouTubers

Last month I shared one of the You Tubers I had found recently, and while I didn’t start watching anyone new in June, I thought I would share a couple of channels that I watch regularly. I grouped these channels together because they are the two “family vloggers” I watch. It might seem a little weird because I don’t have kids, but I enjoy watching both channels. I think I enjoy watching the family vloggers because I look forward to when I have a family of my own and have those “moments”.

KyleandCourt– I found this channel while watching Disney Vlogs, and have been watching Court’s videos for about a year and a half now. It’s crazy to watch how fast her kids are growing up! She has some Disney trips coming up so I can’t wait to see those videos! It’s always fun to see Disney through the eyes of kids, and her kids are 6, 4 and 2 1/2 years old.

beingmommywithstyle– I also found Di’s channel from Disney Vlogs, and enjoy watching her DITL vlogs. I really admire how she decorates her house, and hope I can have an eye like hers when it comes time for me to decorate my own place!

I hope you enjoy looking at some of my favourite things each month, because I really have fun sharing about them! If you want to hear a little more, check out the video below!

Let me know in the comments what you’ve been enjoying lately! I’d love to know!

June Planner Subscription Boxes

Hello everyone! Instead of writing two posts about the planner subscriptions I got last month, I thought I would combine them into one post. I’m sharing what was in my June Planner Addict box, and the June Scribbles Monthly.

June Planner Addict Box

As you may remember from last month’s unboxing, I have unsubscribed from the Planner Addict Box, so this will be my last post sharing about it. I liked all of the things that I got, but at over $40 per month, I just couldn’t justify it. I also mention in the video a few of my frustrations. Namely, receiving my box more than halfway through the month (when the stickers are generally in the colour scheme of that month in my planner), and how many stickers were in this month (my favourite part, and there were more in this month than any of the other month’s I received). I would rather buy just stickers and save a little bit of money to get them when I can control. You can check out my final unboxing below:

What’s in the Box

The clip is from Peonies Paperie and it’s so cute! I have a carry-all clutch from Erin Condren for my planner and it’s a snug fit, but I like how this clip would still fit because it’s so flexible!

The washi tape, whiteout, pineapple sticky notes, pen, planner clips, and cup cozy are all from Planner Addict Box.

The spread from My Newest Addiction might be my favourite thing in the box. I love the colours and the whole spread just screams summer!

The Papery Bowtique included a spread with some of their most popular items, and I love the bright colours! Because I still live at home I don’t use a lot of the icon stickers, but I’m probably an unusual case. When I have my own place they will come in handy!

Made With Southern Luv’s spread is the one I picked to use first, and I love all the fun sayings! I love weekend banners, and the floral touches they added to the kit.

The last sticker page is from Bella Rose Paper Co, and I think I will use it next week! The cacti are so cute!

Because this month’s box came with so many sticker kits, it was hard picking which one to use! You can see the spread I picked below:

June Spread

After getting this box for 5 months I have a lot of similar items, which is a downside. I think the excitement from subscription boxes have worn off for me, and I might be better of buying things that I can pick and choose and would most likely use all of. That’s just my thought right now, but I may stop all my subscription boxes for a while.

Scribbles Monthly

Scribbles Monthly is a monthly subscription service from Scribble Prints Co. I believe I found the company on Instagram, and have watched a few of Andrea’s plan with me videos, but really like her stickers. I can’t justify going on a spending spree for stickers, especially because I have a Cricut. I think this is a nice way to get some stickers, and I like the surprise! All of the info on the Scribbles Monthly subscription can be found here. The box was $54.88 this month, which is a bit expensive, but part of that is international shipping. Check out my unboxing video below:

There are enough stickers in the kit to do a full spread (like she does in her PWM videos0, or a couple whitespace spreads which you can see below is more my style. It also comes with two extras! I really liked what was in it this month, they only thing I don’t like is the feel of the glossy stickers. I didn’t know that before I got the kit, so it’s not something I could have controlled. Actually- each box comes with glossy stickers. Overall, I’m happy with this box! I am already getting one this month (it could be delayed with a possible Postal Strike), and will show you when it comes! If I still don’t love the glossy stickers then I may re-evaluate, but I will wait until I receive it to make a decision. Below is an example of one of the spreads I made with this kit:

I hope you enjoyed a look at this month’s planner accessories roundup, which was your favourite? Let me know if you’d be interested to see how I plan in the comments!

Also if you haven’t entered already, my first giveaway ends at midnight! You can get to that post by clicking here. Good luck!

As always, thank you for reading!
