My 10 Favourite Disney Animated Movies

My 10 Favourite Disney Animated Movies

Hello everyone! This week I thought I would take a break from the Disney & Disabilities post series for something a little more fun. I’m counting down my 10 favourite Disney Animated movies. These do not include Pixar, and the list also includes some honorable mentions, because picking 10 was hard. Okay, let’s get started, and see if you can guess which gets the top spot! Also, this is the 100th post on A Disney Obsession! I just wanted to say a quick thank you, I never thought I would have made it this far! Okay, back to the post at hand, let’s jump in!

My 10 Favourite Disney Animated Movies

#10: The Aristocats

I remember loving this movie so much when I was a kid! When it came to Netflix, I had to watch it! It brought back so many memories. I love the songs, and Marie was a always my favourite. I  had a stuffed animal Marie that I loved! It’s probably still around somewhere.

9: Frozen

I had a hard time deciding where to put Frozen in this list! I still love this movie, but I think it’s a little overrated especially with a certain newer movie that came out last year. Basically, Sven is the reason I love this movie so much! And I love anything Sven. I still love the music and could watch it again and again, but it had to get pushed down the list a bit.

8: Lilo & Stitch

I love the story of Lilo and Stitch, and the message it sends. Plus, I love Stitch just in general. We have a Stitch cookie jar in our kitchen, and it always makes me smile! Ethan hadn’t seen Lilo & Stitch until maybe last year, when I finally made him watch it. I also love the music in the film, and remember watching the special features when we got the DVD with my sister.

7: Tarzan

Tarzan really doesn’t get a lot of recognition, but it’s a Disney movie Ethan and I both love! My family has the soundtrack, so one of my favourite parts has always been the music.

6: The Lion King

A classic, and a perfect example of the Disney music I grew up with! I remember I had a cassette tape in our van that had music from The Lion King, Sailor Moon and other things, and I just loved listening to it. I still love to go back and watch the classics once in a while.

5: Hercules

Hercules was a Disney movie that I never owned on VHS! When I was around 7or 8, I would go to a babysitters house after school and watch Hercules every day. Yep, every. day. I was obsessed! I still love it so much and think it deserves more credit than it’s given. They still can’t watch it, because I watched it too much. In their opinion anyway 🙂

4: Moana

I can’t remember the last time I was this obsessed with a Disney movie! So it had to get a top spot on this list. I love the direction Disney movies are headed, and the story and music in Moana are top notch! I can’t get enough of it, if you haven’t noticed with how often I bring it up around here 🙂

3: Tangled

Another newer film that ranks right up there for me! The story, the characters (Pascal and Maximus!), and the music. Plus Mandy Moore! And the lantern scene is one of the greatest moments in a Disney movie ever. I just love Tangled. I remember when I went to Walt Disney World with my high school, where I first saw a poster for Tangled. We were at Hollywood Studios in the animation building meeting The Incredibles, and on the wall there was the first poster. It just had Rapunzel’s tower and I think her hair, but I just distinctly remember that!

2-Aladdin

Aladdin has always been my second favourite. I love the story, the music, the characters, and can watch it over and over. When we didn’t have a working VHS player, I remember going years without watching it, and when it finally came back on DVD, I got to see it again! I probably watched it more than my #1 because we always had it on VHS, actually!

1- The little mermaid

The Little Mermaid has always been, and probably will always be my favourite Disney movie. I’ve loved it for as long as I can remember. I remember when I didn’t have it on VHJS so I would always watch it at my cousins house. Then I got it on VHS, and lost it! I was so happy when they announced a ride was coming to Magic Kingdom, and it was the first thing Ethan and I did on our first trip just the two of us in 2013. Ethan even videotaped my face on that ride-through. I was a happy camper! Voyage of The Little Mermaid at Hollywood Studios (or MGM back then) was also the first thing I ever did in Walt Disney World! Ariel has a special place in my heart.

Honorable mentions

Of course I can’t just narrow it down to 10 Disney Movies, so I’ve listed a few honorable mentions as well 🙂

Oliver and company- I remember watching this movie all the time when I was a kid! It took a while for me to realize the story it was mirroring, but I always loved it! I’m not really a cat person, but it I could have a cat, I would want to have Oliver.

Beauty and the Beast- I think I didn’t watch Beauty and the Beast a lot when I was a kid because my sister was scared of it, but it’s really grown on me in the last few years. I think it’s one of the Disney movies I’ve watched most often in the last few years. And I think Gaston might be my favourite Disney villain.

Cinderella- I can’t quite put my finger on what I love about this movie. It’s like it relaxes me, and just brings a smile to my face. There’s not a ton of music in it, but I do love what is there. Plus Gus-Gus! 😀

The Sword in the Stone- Another one I loved watching when I was a kid! I don’t remember much about it and haven’t watched it in a long time, but I will watch it soon!

Thank you for joining me today in my count down! I didn’t really realize how many Disney movies there are until I had to pick 10! I think I picked a few that aren’t always given the credit I think they deserve. I also think a persons favourite Disney movie says a lot about them, so I’d love to know what some of your favourite Disney movies are, let me know in the comments!

What's your favourite parade at Walt Disney World? What's your favourite parade at Walt Disney World? I think it might be a tie for me between Festival of Fantasy and Once Upon a Christmastime! I love the costumes of FOF, but the toy soldiers in the Christmas parade are so cool! I'd like to see the Boo to You parade at some point too, because I'd love to see the grave diggers!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
