Hello friends! Today’s post is very special because it’s all about our wedding day! Because I don’t want this post to be exceedingly long, I am going to split it up into a few different posts. Today’s post will be an overview, and there will be other posts to come focusing on the amazing wedding vendors we hired, our detailed timeline, the wedding favours that we DIY’ed, and all of the details we worked for months on.
These posts will be spread out over the next few months so I’m not bombarding you with wedding posts! Basically I just want to show you guys some pictures today! If there’s anything specific you would like to see, please let me know. Okay, let’s get started!
The whole weekend was a complete whirlwind, but I want to remember every moment of it! It’s feels very weird that it’s over and now Ethan and I are married!
September 29th, 2018 was the best day ever! We got married at Ganaraska Forest Centre, and spent the weekend surrounded by family and friends.
We had the venue from Friday at 5pm, so we got there and had a small run through of the ceremony with our wedding planner, before having dinner with family and friends.
After that we began unloading everything and setting up. We had to bring almost everything into the venue, except for tables and chairs for the reception. So we had A LOT of stuff. We had a packed U-haul, Ethan was driving and RV that the two of us stayed in, I drove the SUV with a lot of food for the weekend and the pasta for the rehearsal dinner, and my mom drove the van with my sister and a special guest.
Saturday we were up around 7, and started getting ready around 8:30. The whole day went by so fast, but I was happy to relax while getting ready and just hang out with my bridal party, my mom and my Aunt!
From there I finished getting ready, and took some pictures of just me before heading to meet Ethan for our first look.
Then I made the long trek (in my heels!), to see my husband to be!
We took some pictures and I was so relaxed just being with him.
We had a bit of time after those pictures and before the wedding party pictures, so Ethan and I sat on a picnic table near the ceremony spot, and listened to some live music (I’ll get there in a bit!). This was actually one of my favourite moments of the day, just taking it all in!
Then we took our wedding party pictures (and my feet were starting to hurt!)
Now it was time to get married! Our special guest was my favourite singer Brendan James, who flew from Iceland (while his family has been busy travelling the world) to perform at our wedding! We have known him for 9 years now, and he’s played in our backyard and hometown multiple times. It was my dream to have him there, and I’m so happy he could make it! It made the day even more special and personal.
After the ceremony we were whisked off for family photos, so we didn’t get to enjoy cocktail hour. But apparently the food was good!
Ethan and I then snuck in to see the reception space before the receiving line. There was really nothing like seeing in person what was in my head for so many months! I’m so happy with how everything turned out. That wall behind us? Ethan made it. And the stencil we made using my Cricut. Don’t worry, I’ll share even more details in a dedicated post.
Oh and the cake! The cake that I spent hours and hours on, I was so happy with how it turned out! I also made a small one for us to cut, and we have some in the freezer for our first anniversary!
Next we greeted all our guests (I really liked doing the receiving line so we didn’t have to worry about making it to all of the tables during the reception). Then our first dance and speeches, all while dinner was happening. I will be completely honest, I barely ate anything the whole weekend! I just didn’t have an appetite at all!
After speeches we finished up the important dances, and got the actual dancing started!
At this point our photographers and videographer headed out, but the rest of the evening went by quickly!
It was such a special day and it’s hard to know what to say, but I’m excited to share all of the details over the next little while and share pictures! I hope this post hasn’t been too rambly and you get a good idea of the day from the pictures! It’s hard to put all of the small moments into a blog post, but there will definitely be more to come!
Again, if there’s anything wedding related you’d like to see, please let me know in the comments below!
