You guys, I can’t believe it’s almost 2018! I thought I would take some time to reflect on this year, and see how I did in terms of my goals for 2017. In a few weeks I’ll share the same sort of post I did at the beginning of this year, and share my goals for 2018, plus some of the goodies I got from Christmas. I’ll also share a post with some of my favourite blog posts from 2017, plus the most popular blog posts and videos from 2017. It’s so hard to believe that this year is almost over, and it’s been a crazy busy year! Okay, let’s talk about those goals I made at the beginning of the year!
1. Run 100 miles before my birthday
I did not complete this, not even close! My birthday is April 18th, and I think I finished towards the end of July. I really don’t like running on the treadmill (which has become a realization again now that it’s cold out), so the majority of these miles I ran outside. Also once I finished this tracker, I started a kilometer tracker in my bullet journal that you can see in this post. I’ve almost run 100 kms since August, but I’ve definitely slowed down since my race on October 1st, which I will talk about next!
I’m going to get real for a minute. Fitness was a bit of a struggle for me this year, and I actually talked about it towards the beginning of the year in one of the first weekend vlogs. After gaining some weight towards the end of last year and over the holidays, I really had a hard time staying motivated to lose that weight. Unfortunately it’s still stuck around, even after running lots, but I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things and say goodbye to that weight soon!
2. Run a 5k for real this time!
I did this, but even more so! Ethan and I ran a 15K on October 1st, and I am so incredibly proud of us! It wasn’t easy, and I wasn’t sure if I could do it, but we did! And I only had to stop and walk twice, for barely any time at all. I actually ran the first 10K without stopping! I hope to run another race next year, maybe not 15K, but I hope to improve my pace and time! Below is the weekend vlog from the weekend of our race!
3. No more chips!
This one is hard for me, and still is hard! I have a weakness for junk food, and hope to get better at this! I’ve started tracking “no junk” in my bullet journal, trying to motivate myself to eat healthy. Maybe I’ll be a little more successful next year when I have a wedding dress to fit in!
4. Post on Instagram regularly
I feel like I “passed” this with flying colours! If you follow me on Instagram, you might notice that my number of posts has jumped way up, because I haven’t missed a day this year! It’s now a part of my daily routine, and I’m quite proud to keep this streak going! If you don’t follow me yet, click here!

5. Vlog more
I also feel like I did this really well! I post weekend vlogs every Friday, and now have over 100 videos on YouTube! I bought a vlogging camera so the quality has greatly improved, and I’ve gotten used to talking into a camera every weekend. If you want to see these vlogs, make sure to subscribe to my channel! It’s hard to believe that I have over 100 videos on YouTube now, and that number grows every week thanks to my weekend vlogs! If you want to check them out, subscribe to my channel here! I’ve linked my most recent weekend vlog below :).
Thank you for joining me today as I tried to hold myself accountable for the goals of the year. What were your 2017 goals, and how did you do? Do you already have goals in mind for the new year? Id love to hear them in the comments!
Thank you again for reading! And I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!
