Hello everyone, I hope February is treating you well so far! I can’t believe it’s already February and time for another monthly favourites! Today I’m sharing my favourite things in entertainment, beauty, clothing, recipes and more from January! Okay, let’s jump in!
Entertainment
Whisper Network by Chandler Baker– I loved this book, and I think it’s one that all women should read. It talks about double standards in the workplace between men and women, as well as sexual harassment. Here’s a quick synopsis from Amazon: Sloane, Ardie, Grace, and Rosalita have worked at Truviv, Inc. for years. The sudden death of Truviv’s CEO means their boss, Ames, will likely take over the entire company. Each of the women has a different relationship with Ames, who has always been surrounded by whispers about how he treats women. Those whispers have been ignored, swept under the rug, hidden away by those in charge.
The Testaments by Margaret Atwood– The sequel to The Handmaids Tale, that I got for Christmas and read in just over a week! It took me a little bit to get into it, to find out who the narrators were and the timeline between the first book and the show, but I really enjoyed it! I think if you read the first one or watch the show you would enjoy it, and I wonder if the show will cover what’s in the book.
Younger- Okay, I’m officially OBSESSED with this show. I started watching it on Amazon Prime either in December or at the beginning of January, and I’m a good chunk into season 6. It’s SO good. From the creator of Sex and the City, Younger is about 40 year old Liza who after a divorce wants to get back into the world of publishing, but no one will hire her. So she pretends she’s 26. Starring Sutton Foster and Hilary Duff, it’s a show I would highly recommend, and the episodes are around 20 minutes which make it very bingeworthy.
Beauty
Gimme Brow gel in shade 3– I picked this up during the Sephora Fall Sale and finally started using it this month! I had previously been using a bowl pencil and then a brow gel, and this does both at the same time! I’m still getting used to using it, but if I go a little heavy it blends easily. And I like that it makes my makeup bag a little lighter and my makeup routine a little faster!
Pillowcase and French pins by Kristin Ess– I got this for Chirstmas, and while I hate mentioning items that aren’t available, I love this set! I’d wanted a silk pillowcase for a while because I usually wake up with frizzy hair, and all sides of the pillow stay cool. And the French pins are nice and simple, but I’m still getting a hang of using them.
clothing
Cozy Brand pants– I got a pair of these for Christmas, and they are so comfortable I just had to talk about them! They are fuzzy on the inside and like sweatpants, but they aren’t as baggy and don’t really look like sweatpants! They are having a sale in-stores and online so check them out if you are interested!
Recipes
Cauliflower Burrito Bowl from This Savoury Vegan– We’ve been trying lots of new recipes lately, and so I thought I would share 2 of my favourites! These burrito bowls are a healthier twist of burritos, and with a greens base, black beans, corn and rice, a delicious dressing and cauliflower, everyone in my family really enjoyed it! So we will definitely be having it again soon!
Spinach and Ricotta Calzones from Kitschen Cat -These were SO easy to make and SO good! It calls for pre-made pizza dough so we bought some from the store. Then you make the filling, split up your pizza dough into however many calzones you want (we made 5), roll them out, add filling, fold and bake. SO yummy!
Priceless
Matching Tattoos with my Sister!- My sister had a big birthday last June, and one day when I asked her what she wanted, she said she wanted us to get matching tattoos. Yes, for her birthday she wanted me to permanently scar my body. But I thought about it it, and on January 4th we got matching tattoos! I vlogged that weekend, so if you want to see that click here. It was maybe a little more painful than I thought it would be, but I’m really happy with it, and now my sister and I are like really bonded.
