Hello everyone, and welcome to my first DIY post! Today I am sharing my DIY Bridesmaid proposal! I sharing exactly how I asked my sister and best friend to be a part of my big day! I wanted to do something cute and something they could keep, so this is what I came up with! I made these over a year ago and this post has gotten pushed back a few times, but I’m excited to finally be sharing it! Okay, without further ado let’s get started!
You’ll need:
- wood box (I got mine at Michael’s)
- Paint
- Foam brush
- newspaper/sheets to cover the area you are painting
- paint pen
- krinkle paper ( i got my bag at Michaels)
- fun things to fill it with!
This DIY is suuuuper simple! Ready for the 3 easy steps?
Step 1
First I painted the boxes. I chose navy because I was 90% sure it was going to be one of our wedding colours, and I wanted it to “go”. I did two coats, especially because it’s a darker colour I wanted it to be even. I did this over the span of a few days, giving the coats ample time to dry.
Step 2
Next I wrote inside the lid “Will you be my…” I tried with a silver Sharpie but found that didn’t work, so I bought a paint pen that worked much better! Looking back at this I wish my handwriting was better, especially since I’ve been working on it! I’m sure you could find a stencil if you didn’t want to write by hand, or find a template online.
Step 3
Next I added the paper, and then the gifts! I didn’t add too much because I still wanted the boxes to close to leave a little to the imagination! I chose to add a small bottle of Asti and a ring-pop for my Maid of Honour, and got my sister an prepaid Mastercard card because she doesn’t drink.
I also wrote a little note for an even more personal touch
That’s about it! Very simple, but I thought it was a nice way to ask my girls! If you are getting married or are married, how did you ask your bridal party? I’d love to know in the comments!
If there are any other wedding related posts you’d like to see on the blog, let me know! I know I plan on sharing some DIY posts after the wedding (as to not spoil it for any readers who will attending the wedding!) and sharing how we found items to fit our special day! It’s getting closer and closer guys! Ahhh!
Thank you so much for joining me today!
