Walt Disney World Resort Hotels: The Value Resorts!

Hello everyone! I hope you are well! In today’s Disney post, we are talking all about the Value Resorts at Walt Disney World! I’m going to take you through all of the different resorts at this level, give a brief breakdown of types of rooms available (and the pricing as of June 2018), and a little bit about each resort. I will be going through all Walt Disney World Resorts in the coming weeks. If you’d like to stay on site at Walt Disney World, this post series is for you! Okay, let’s get started!

What is a Value Resort?

The Value Resorts are the lowest level of resorts at Walt Disney World, therefore they are the least expensive! The themes are more “in your face Disney” and are generally very popular with families. School groups tend to stay at the Values as well. Value Resorts have larger than life statues of characters from Disney films, and each resort has a different theme. Within the resorts there are different sections, and each section has a pool, with the largest pool being closest to the main building! All resorts have a food court, arcade, shop, and basic hotel amenities. Okay, let’s get to the resorts!

The All Stars!

There are 3 All Star Resorts, all close to each other in the Animal Kingdom resort section of Walt Disney World. Prices start at $110/night (as of June 8th, 2018.)

All Star Music– This resort opened 1994, and I stayed here in 1997 on my 1st trip to Walt Disney World! Sections of the resort are different genres of music, and I remember staying in the Country section! They have two types of room configurations: 2 Double beds, or a family suite that includes 1 queen bed, 1 twin sleeper chair, 1 double size sleeper sofa. Standard location or preferred location (close to the main building) is available. Intermissions is the name of the food court.

The Value Resorts

All Star Movies– This resort opened in 1999! It has different sections themed to different movies like Fantasia, Toy Story, 101 Dalmatians and more! All rooms have 2 double beds, and standard or preferred rooms are available. The food court is called World Premier! Look at the film reel railings! It’s all in the details.

The Value Resorts

All Star Sports– All Star Sports opened in 1994! Each section is themed to different sports, like football, tennis, and more! All rooms have 2 double beds, and standard and preferred rooms are available. End Zone is the name of the food court. Most sports groups (like cheerleaders) stay here when they visit Walt Disney World for tournaments.

The Value Resorts

Notes about the All Stars

  • school groups tend to stay here because they are the least expesive
  • cheerleading and sports groups are the same
  • They are fairly far away from Magic Kingdom
  • Your room (if you don’t go for preferred location) can be far away from the bus stop (10 minute walk or more)
  • In the lower seasons, the All Star Resorts sometimes share buses

pop century

Rooms starting at $120/night (as of June 8th, 2018). Resort is in the Wide World of Sports Resort area.

Pop Century Resort opened in 2003! Each section is themed to a decade, from the 50’s to the 90’s. The rooms have either 2 double beds, 1 king bed, or 1 queen bed and 1 queen table bed. The entire resort is undergoing renovations (one section at a time), and the rooms are really nice! The views are standard, standard pool view, preferred, or preferred pool view. The food court is called Everything Pop! I’ve stayed here 3 times and as of right now it’s my favourite Value Resort! This was the first resort we stayed in an accessible room, and it was in a preferred location which was nice! I also find that the resort area is more central, and it’s a bit faster to get to each of the parks.

The Value Resorts

art of animation

Starting at $155/night, $342/night for suites (as of June 8th, 2018). Also in the Wide World of Sports area. Pop Century and Art of Animation are connected by a bridge! The gondola system will be coming to these resorts as well! (Estimated completion mid 2019).

Art of Animation is the newest Value resort, and it opened May 2012. It’s a little different than the other Values!  I would call it Moderate-lite (next level up of resorts), or value-plus. There are 4 sections, 3 are made up of family suites (Finding Nemo, The Lion King, and Cars) and 1 section is standard rooms (Little Mermaid). For the family suites, all rooms have 1 queen bed, 1 double table bed and 1 double size sleeper sofa. For the standard rooms, you get either 2 double beds or 1 king. These rooms are HEAVILY themed to the section, and they look awesome. I hope to stay here someday! Little Mermaid section would be my first choice. (Ethan and I actually considered staying there on our trip in 2013, but with the room discount available we stayed at a Moderate resort for close to the same price). The food court is called Landscape of Flavors, and is supposed to be one of the best food courts of the Value Resorts!

The Value Resorts

Random Tips!

  • stay in a preferred room if you can, it’s worth the time saved walking back to the rooms!
  • if you are going to be in the parks all day, save some money and stay at a value
  • because lots of families stay here, there tend to be a lot of buses at the end of the night at the parks!

If you’d like to listen to me talk about the different resorts instead of reading about them, check out the video below!

Monthly Favourites- May 2018!

Hello everyone, and Happy June! I can’t believe summer is almost here, and I’m so happy the weather has warmed up! Today I’m sharing some of my favourite things from the month of May, from entertainment, to beauty, some books, and a recipe! Okay, let’s get started!

Entertainment

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel– Ethan and I are probably the last people on Earth to get Amazon Prime, but as soon as we did I started watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon prime Video! This show is from the creator of Gilmore Girls, and I’ve been loving the first season! It’s only 8 epsiodes, and is definitely more adult than Gilmore Girls (aka swearing and nudity). It’s about Midge Maisel who is trying to become a stand up comic in the 1950’s. It’s really good!

Waitress Broadway soundtrack- I feel like I haven’t mentioned a music favourite in a while! I first head about it through KyleandCourt, and then I kept hearing about it everywhere! So I listened to it, and without having seen the movie I had no idea what was going on. So I watched the movie and now I get it! The musical is coming to Toronto next year I believe, so I hope I can go seeing it after falling in love with the soundtrack!

Monthly Favourites May 2018

New Light by John Mayer– I love the song, but the video is GOLD. I really like the song, it feels like a good song for driving in the car this summer! But the music video it where it’s at. You have to watch it! I like that John Mayer can make fun of himself and not take himself too seriously. I’ve linked the video for your enjoyment! 🙂

Books

I read 3 books this month! All part of a 5-book series by Kiera Cass.  I heard about them from the Young House Love Podcast (which I’ve mentioned in a favourites before)! The first 3 books are one story, and the second two jump forward in time and are another story, but with familiar characters. I flew through these books, like read the second two in a day each. They are really good! I would describe them as a cross between The Hunger Games and The Bachelor. The books include: The Selection, The Elite, and The One. Below is the description of the Selection from Amazon.ca

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape a rigid caste system, live in a palace, and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon. But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her, and competing for a crown she doesn’t want.

Then America meets Prince Maxon—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Beauty

Biosilk Silk Therapy– I’ve been using this for a while when I get out of the shower and it smells so good! I got the bottle at Costco, and it’s works well to detangle my hair (which is getting pretty long)! My hairdresser uses it and my Mom used to use it all the time, so the smell is very familiar to me!

Monthly Favourites May 2018

Fitness

Garmin Forerunner 35– I got my fitness and GPS tracker for Christmas, but I wanted to use it for a while before mentioning it! It tracks my heart rate, steps, sleep quality, plus GPS for running. It has tons of settings like intervals, goal pace and more that I played around with in May. The battery lasts 1-2 weeks depending on how much you work out with it. Without giving this watch an entire post, I would recommend it! I talk a bit more about it in the video below as well.

Monthly Favourites May 2018

Old Navy ankle socks– This might be random, but I wanted to mention my favourite socks. They are great for working out, nice and thin, and cheap too! I always buy them on sale and have a bunch of pairs in grey and black. They aren’t “fitness” socks, but I’ve worn them at Walt Disney World, plus running 15K! They are ankle socks, but don’t slide down giving me blisters. I have a ton of pairs in grey and black.

Monthly Favourites May 2018

Food

Vegan buddha bowl– Okay, number 1, the picture is gorgeous, and number 2 this bowl is delicious! The spiced roasted chickpeas are my favourite part! Ethan and I are trying to meal prep some healthier lunches, and we’ve been liking bowls! This recipe was easy to make and you can easily make enough for a full week of meals!

Monthly Favourites May 2018

Salt and Vingear cracker chips by Special K– These have been my chips lately, they are slightly healthier than regular chips, but addicting! I’m very picky when it comes to my salt and vinegar flavour, and these are very good!

Summer at Walt Disney World!

Hello everyone, I hope you are well! The weather has really been heating up lately, which got me thinking about summer, and summer at Walt Disney World! Today I’ll be sharing the special events you can look forward to if you are visiting Walt Disney World this summer! Okay, let’s get started!

Summer at Walt Disney World

hot hot hot!

If you are visiting Walt Disney World this summer, it’s going to be hot! Make sure to check out my post with tips to staying cool in the summer!

h20 glow parties at Typhoon Lagoon

Running select nights from June 21st to August 11th (every Thursday and Saturday from 8pm-11pm), this looks like it would be so much fun! I’ve never been to the water parks at night! Themed from the short (which you should watch if you’ve never seen it!) Rex is your Dinosaur of Ceremonies, and the party includes dance parties, special food, and fun for the whole family!

Tickets are $55 per adult and $50 per child (ages 3-9) plus tax. Guests can arrive as early as 7pm.

While it is on the expensive side, I think it’s a cool idea and it would be fun to see Typhoon Lagoon all glowed up!

Summer at Walt Disney World

incredible summer

The Incredible Tomorrowland Expo runs from May 25th to September 3rd, 2018 and takes place in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom! With character interactions, photo ops and special food, it looks like a fun place to be!

Summer at Walt Disney World

Guardians of the Galaxy at Epcot

From June 9th to August 19th, 2108 the Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Live! concert series will be happening at Epcot! The concerts will be taking place 5 times daily, and it looks like it would be fun! With Gamora, Starlord and a band of aliens, they will be playing classics from the 70’s and 80’s!

Summer at Walt Disney World

Donald’s Dino Bash at Animal Kingdom

Beginning May 25th, Dinoland USA is getting a party! Scrooge McDuck will greet guests as well as Launchpad McQuack and Donald himself! There’s also a dance party! I’ve seen some footage on Instagram of Chip and Dale in their dinosaur costumes dancing, and I would even visit them (considering I HATE dinosaurs). It looks like it will bring some life to a pretty boring area of Animal Kingdom (that I don’t know why it exists in the first place, but that’s a different story).

Summer at Walt Disney World

Toy Story Land!!

An exciting addition coming to Hollywood Studios coming June 30th! It’s going to be BUSY, so try and book your Fastpass+ as soon as your window opens! If that’s not possible, try to be there for park opening, and try when Fantasmic and the fireworks are going on!

Toy Story Land has 2 new rides: Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers, plus Toy Story Midway Mania and a new quick service location called Woody’s Lunch Box!

For more information on everything mentioned, visit the Walt Disney World website!
